In homeopathy, the stronger (i.e., more powerful) remedies are the ones that have been diluted the most.
Prior to packaging, homeopathic remedies typically are prepared by dilution in distilled water, either at a ratio of 1 part original substance to 9 parts water (a 1:10 dilution), or 1 part substance to 99 parts water (a 1:100 dilution). The homeopathic potency of the remedy indicated on the package uses the Roman numerals X(10) or C(100). For example, if the strength of the remedy is listed as 6X, this means that the substance has been diluted 1:10 six times. If the potency on a package reads 30C, this means that the substance has been diluted 1:100 thirty times.
It is also important to know that some homeopathic remedies are prepared in an alcohol base. Not only is this an essential consideration for recovering alcoholics, but also cancer patients need to be aware of the fact that some homeopathic preparations contain alcohol. Remember to discuss the alcohol content of homeopathic preparations with your qualified homeopath.
As with any supplements or alternative or complementary therapies, before taking any homeopathic remedies, be sure to first consult with your homeopath, your integrative healthcare professional, and your oncologist.
