According to the American Cancer Society, only 1 or 2 of every 1,000 mammograms lead to a cancer diagnosis.  About 10% of women tested by mammography will need to have an additional mammogram to clarify or confirm the findings of the first mammogram.  Of this 10%, only 8% to 10% will need to have a biopsy. About 80% of these results of these biopsies will not be cancer.   |
