Hyperfractionated Radiation Therapy

What is hyperfractionated radiation therapy?

In hyperfractionated radiation therapy, a less commonly used form of radiation therapy, the daily dose of radiation is given in smaller increments with 4 or 6 hour breaks in between treatments.

Although the smaller doses may help offset some of the side effects, the time schedule can be very stressful for the patient who has to go back and forth to the radiation facility several times a day.
