What is a modified radical mastectomy?

Modified radical mastectomy is the most common operation for treatment of breast cancer. In a modified radical mastectomy, the breast, many of the lymph nodes under the arm, the lining over the chest muscles, and sometimes part of the chest wall muscles are removed.
