No one knows for certain what causes breast cancer in men. However, several factors are thought to increase a man's risk, including:
Klinefelter's syndrome, a rare genetic condition
Testicular dysfunction and other conditions causing hormone imbalance
Previous radiation treatment to the chest
Family history (male or female) of breast cancer. Some evidence exists that mutations in BRCA2 or BRCA1 genes may contribute to risk.
Age. The average age at diagnosis of men with breast cancer is 65.
